Wood Turned Bowls Exhibit

Gus Szabronski lives in Liberty. His wife says he has too many hobbies. Lucky for us, one of those hobbies is working with wood. Whether it be furniture, building boats, caning chairs, or turning wood, he enjoys working with wood.

.

During the months of September and October, the library will display his wood turned bowls. We are fortunate in Maine to have a variety of local woods to work with: maple, oak, cherry, and ash are all available. Softwood like pine, spruce, poplar, and cedar are also available. Gus says that the type of wood will many times dictate the size, shape, texture, color, and look of the finished product. His crafted bowls are for sale, with a generous 25% of the sales going to the library.

.

Wood turning is relaxing and rewarding from the first steps of selecting the wood, to watching it take shape to applying the last coat of finish. Finally, you can step back, admire, and appreciate the piece you have created.”
