The Life and Times of Milton Bradley
.
UMaine librarian John Hutchinson will join us for an entertaining presentation about Milton Bradley, the pioneering game maker who pioneered fun and educational games and later became a champion of the Kindergarten movement. He was also a master lithographer and creative entrepreneur. This talk explores his remarkable life and legacy, with plenty of visuals—including a reproduction of his first hit board game, an early edition set of his popular Author Cards, and even a working zoetrope! Whether you’re a fan of board games, history, or inventors, you’ll leave with a new appreciation for the man behind the Milton Bradley Company. And some surprises!

John Hutchinson is the History Librarian at the University of Maine and the Representative at Maine’s only Patent & Trademark Resource Center. He grew up in Bridgton, ME, and currently lives in Bangor.
