Zenbooth

Use our privacy booth for a quiet work space, virtual meetings, and phone calls. It is normally on a first-come basis, but if you would like to schedule its use for a meeting or telehealth appointment, call the library ahead of time, and we will reserve it for you. Generally the use time is 1-hour but that is flexible, especially if no one is waiting to use it. You may bring your own device or use the library’s laptop computer.

Author, Dale Ruth Sherburne

Dale Ruth Sherburne is a caregiver advocate, speaker, and author of Neither Wife nor Widow. Drawing from twenty years of caring for her husband with early-onset dementia, her work explores the unspoken emotional realities of long-term caregiving, such as guilt, resentment, and grief. She advocates for greater support and resources for caregivers. Neither Wife nor Widow has been selected as a finalist by the NIEA (National Indie Excellence Awards) in the Caregiving category.

.

Neither Wife nor Widow is a collection of personal stories that explore the emotional realities of caregiving for a loved one with dementia. A riveting, straight-from-the-trenches reveal about the emotions experienced while caregiving for a family member with dementia. Through dozens of conversational vignettes, the author bares her feelings with raw, unapologetic honesty. Stories range from humorous to touching to wrenching, and shed a previously unseen light into a caregiver’s mind.

Remove Invasive Plants Locally (RIPL)

As Julie promised in her introductory talk, she  will be available on the above dates for a series of learn-the-plants drop-in sessions at the library. Bring in plants to identify and she will help you make a plan to eradicate them, if desired. You do not need to have attended her introductory talk in order to participate in these drop-in sessions.

Ceramic and Paintings Exhibit

Joseph Barberio has returned with new sculptural clay forms. His approach ensures the singularity of each piece, since he builds either by coiling or forms a piece from hand rolled slabs. All his work is bisque fired in the normal fashion, then goes through a special, second firing with sawdust in small metal barrels. While he begins each piece with a specific design in mind, Joseph often lets the clay “talk” to him during the slow shaping process. His aim is sometimes sculptural rather than functional thus a few of his pieces are closed, Mis-sized forms. None are considered food-safe, though his vase-like forms are treated on the interior to allow them to hold water.

.

Judith Fischer, his wife, is also displaying some tiny art paintings amongst the ceramic pieces. She will be bringing more paintings for the walls in a few days.

.

Their exhibit will be at the library during July and August. All of their items are for sale with and 50% of the sales being donated to the Liberty Library.
