Zenbooth

Use our privacy booth for a quiet work space, virtual meetings, and phone calls. It is normally on a first-come basis, but if you would like to schedule its use for a meeting or telehealth appointment, call the library ahead of time, and we will reserve it for you. Generally the use time is 1-hour but that is flexible, especially if no one is waiting to use it. You may bring your own device or use the library’s laptop computer.

Hats & Mittens & Lap Robes

We are collecting mittens and hats at the library for WaldoCAP Head Start. They need mittens size infant to child age 5. Here are two simple 2-needle mitten patterns: Mitten 3-4 yrs , Mitten 4-6 yrs 

We will be offering larger mittens to local children and adults in the near future.

We are also collecting lap robes for Triad to be given to older people in Waldo County. They can be knitted, crocheted, quilted, or made of fleece. They need to be 33″-45″ wide and at least 45″ long. They want them before Thanksgiving so please have them to the library by Nov. 18th.

All items should go in the large basket at the library. There is yarn for you to use so please stop in and help yourself. Thank you for your donations!

Photography Workshop

October 10th, 9:00am to noon

(Rain or Shine)

Simon Beckford, a photographer based in Liberty, will be leading this workshop.

  • The first hour, Simon will instruct participants about camera anatomy, lighting, composition, camera settings, and editing.
  • The second hour, you will be sent outside to take photos around Liberty.
  • The third hour, you will return to the library and edit your shots and send your favorite photo by text or email.  A “Fall in Liberty” slideshow of photos will be created. Participants will watch and critique the photos as a group. (This slideshow will likely be posted on the library website for others to view afterwards.)

Bring either your iPhone or Android smart phone or tablet and dress for the weather conditions.

First Cuts: Relief Prints by Martha Piscuskas

During September and October, Martha Piscuskas will be exhibiting both linocuts and wood block prints. Starting in 2000, she learned various printmaking methods during her time co-founding and directing Waterfall Arts, a community arts center in Belfast and Rockland. Last year she concentrated her creative time on making small and larger relief prints and considers herself an advanced beginner. She worked with Scott Minzy, and Lyell Castonguay of Big Ink, here in Maine and Merlyn Chesterman in the UK, a master printer on the Council of the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers.

Martha has lived in Liberty within walking distance of the library since 1988.  She holds a BFA in sculpture from MECA&D and currently works at the Maine Arts Commission.

Remove Invasive Plants Locally (RIPL)

This final open house will include a community conversation, starting at 6:30 pm, to imagine the variety of ways that Liberty residents might work together to reduce the presence of invasive plants in our shared landscape. Facilitated by Julie Beckford.
