A year ago, the Liberty Library joined the MILS Maine InfoNet Library System. MILS is a shared library system of smaller libraries from across the state. We are thankful that we had this system during this pandemic year as management of loans and requests was much easier. However, one of the requirements of MILS is that we annually update our membership records.
Resident memberships will expire on January 31, 2021. Nonresidents do not need to do anything at this time as you are handled differently. Resident membership is free for anyone in Liberty and Montville. (Reminder – ‘Residents’ are considered those who pay taxes to the towns of Liberty or Montville or have a residential address in Liberty or Montville, such as a renter.) If Residents joined the library after January 2020, you do not need to renew until the 1-year expiration. (More information about membership.)
What does this mean?
If you do not renew your membership by the expiration date, you will not be able to borrow or request materials. This includes the use of Download Library/CloudLibrary. Also your due dates will be shortened from the 3-week lending period to end on January 31st if you do not renew before January 11th.
How do I renew?
In a normal year, you would just come in to the library, we would verify your information on your account, and renew for another year. Not quite as easy since we are only doing curbside loaning right now. So, I have devised a system that I hope works. Click on the form below:
I will check this form at least daily and will update your record. Once the information is entered in the system, your membership will be renewed until 1/31/2022 (or for 1 year if after 1/31/2021). Your responses will be deleted from the form once your renewal is successful. Liberty Library will not share this information with anyone.
Are there other ways I can renew?
- You can write the required information on paper and deliver it to the library during open hours – Monday 4:00-7:00 and Thursday 10:00-4:00. Or put it in a sealed envelope in the drop box.
- You can telephone (207) 589-3161 when the library is open and renewal can be done over the phone.
- You can email me with the required information.
Please don’t hesitate to email me if you are blocked from the MILS system or require additional assistance.
What if I don’t renew?
Once your account has expired, you will not be able to borrow materials or request materials from the Liberty Library or through interlibrary loan. You will not be able to use Download Library/CloudLibrary. If you do not renew now, you can choose to renew at a later date. If you do not renew your membership within 3 years, your account will be deleted.
