The Liberty Library participates in MILS and MaineCat statewide borrowing. Please start your search at MILS > View entire collection. If you do not find what you are looking for in MILS, you will be provided with a link to MaineCat. If you locate an item you would like to borrow, use the built-in requesting management system to make an online interlibrary loan request. Here is a help sheet for How to Search in MILS.
Interlibrary Loan is free for library members. The Liberty Library is part of the statewide Interlibrary Loan Van Delivery Service, a voluntary service where participating libraries use a courier to deliver library books and materials to facilitate interlibrary lending and borrowing throughout the State of Maine. We have delivery one day a week on Tuesday and you will be notified by email when your item is available for pick-up at the library. Items usually arrive in 1-2 weeks.
Requestors must have a valid Liberty Library membership and the account must be in good standing. Contact the library if you need help with your 14-digit Library Account number. If you do not have an email address, you will be called. If you would prefer to be called rather than receive an email, ask for this to be changed in your account. The due date of items varies according to the lending libraries. The Liberty Library does not charge overdue fees but the sending library may have an overdue fee which you will be responsible to pay if applicable.
If you cannot locate the item in MILS or MaineCat, you can submit a request to the librarian to do a search request. Be sure to provide all the correct information about title, author, etc. so that your request can be fulfilled accurately. Since these items often come from out-of-state, they will likely take longer to arrive.
